Trip to Paris w/ an infant
 
Thank you all for replying to my message dated 08/09/07 re: trip to Paris with infant. SOme of you suggested that we stayed in an apartment. Unfortunately prior to joining this site, I alredy booked a hotel
(Hotel Londres St. Honoré). I was wondering if anyone is familiar with this hotel.
Also, we are planning a day trip by train to London instead of driving by car to Bruges. I've heard that we have to validate our train ticket at least 24 hours prior to departure date. Is it true? And where should we do it? At the train station? Thanks a bunch for your help.

where did you buy that ticket because whoever told you that knows nothing.

You obviously have a Eurostar day-return ticket with a seat reservation and just much show up at Gare du Nord in Paris and Waterloo International in London 45 minutes earlier than the train and insert your ticket into the automatic cancelling machine at the entrance.

24 hours - where did you hear that mis-information?

or maybe i'm missing something

No, you don't have to validate a ticket 24 hours in advance. Depending on what kind of ticket it is, you may have to "composte" it by punching it in the composteur machine before boarding the train, but you can do that minutes before the train departs.

Unless you've booked your hotel in some non-refundable fashion (via Priceline, for instance) it's unlikely that you'd have to pay a penalty for cancelling your reservation there unless it's very close to your trip. So you could still switch to an apartment, and with an infant I'd strongly recommend it.

you do not composte Eurostar tickets before the turnstile, which compostes them automatically and it's gotta be a Eurostar train

Thanks you all for the reply- I must have misuderstood what my friends said. I am glad we don't have to validate the ticket 24 hours prior to the departure.
