Trip to Paris
 

My sister and I (mid 50's) will be staying in Paris from Sept. 18 to Oct. 1. Will we need air conditioning at this time of year? Suggestions for areas in which to stay and hotels from 100-130 Euros. Thank you.

Need for a/c is not impossible, just very improbable<BR>If you do a search here for Paris hotels you will find scads of suggestions, including many that are budget-minded.<BR>Or do a search on some popular hotels by name, such as<BR>Muguet, Grands Balcons, Leveque,<BR>Familia, Minerve, Danube, Libertel Bellechasse, Jardins du Luxembourg, Palais Bourbon, etc.<BR><BR>I have a long file on Paris; if you'd like to see it, email me.

Susan, I was in Paris last September 8-19th and I never had the need for air conditioning at all.

Susan,<BR><BR>It depends on how sensitive to heat you are - daytime highs can still easily be in the mid 80s although it cools off some at night.<BR><BR>If you have a room facing a quiet courtyard, sleeping with the window open should be OK, otherwise A/C would be nice.<BR><BR>Andre

At the risk of repeating myself over and over, I really like the Hotel du Lys (rue Serpente) for a great little budget place in the 6th, which is a lot of folks' favorite place to stay. I think it is now 105 euros for a double, and breakfast is included. It's been a few years since I stayed there, but will be there in a few days. It was mentioned in the National Geog. Traveler mag. a while back, and Cheap Sleeps in Paris says it has more charm than many 3 stars in the area, which go for a lot more. I would agree with that, from my experience. Only drawback could be lack of elevator; the ancient, winding staircase can be a bit daunting. However, when the bonne arrived each morning at our door, 3 flights up, with our breakfast tray and not one bit out of breath, it gave me a challenge. She was mid-fifties, I'm sure!
