Trip to London, madrid, lisbon
 

Hi,

Next June im planning a trip going to London for 4 days, 4 days in Madrid and 4 days in Lisbon. I plan on flying between cities. Is this literary fesable?

Welcome to Fodors -- Yes - is 'feasible' but what do you hope to see in each city. Lisbon and Madrid are wonderful but all cities are not 'equal'. For instance London is more than 15 times the size of Lisbon.

And clarify how long the trip actually is . . . 4 days requires 5 nights - when you add in the travel time to the first city, to get 12 days on the ground would mean a 16 night trip.. If on the other hand you are talking about 4 nights in each city . . . then you'll only have 3 full days in each place -- which isn't very long, depending on what you hope to see and do.

Janis has offered you important things to think about. With your amount of time I would strongly advise visiting two of the three cities. If it were my trip I would either spend the entire time in London. Or combine Madrid and Lisbon

I am curious about what draws you to Lisbon (?Have you heard that it is now one of the cool cities to visit in Europe? What do you hope to do or see in Lisbon?

Ok I plan on traveling for 14 nights all together So the more I'm thinking about it it would be better to select 2 places instead. London Itinerary- Hyde Park, Buckingham Palace, Parliament square, tower bridge, tower of London. borough market, piccadilly street, circus Covent garden,harrods,kensington gardens. I'm probably missing other key locations

Ekscrunchy- No it's not cuz it's the new trend lol I've always wanted to go to Portugal. Lisbon Itinerary- Belem, Cobo de roca,alfama, tram 28 (just because) Cascais, st gorge castle, monastery of jeronimos, spend a couple of nights in Douro

This is just a rough draft for now but it's a good start!

Depending on when in June you are planning to travel, you might find that Lisbon will be very hot to do to much walking around, at least by the time if it mid-day. Several years ago my husband and I did a June trip to Portugal, ending in Lisbon. The line in the midday sun for the monastery was blocks long and so didn't even tempt waiting as we had seen two other monasteries already on our trip. FYI, Tram 28, while picturesque, is known for being rife with pickpockets

The Douro Valley might be pleasant as would the area north of Porto. Sintra, up in the mountains which we did as a day trip out of Lisbon was much cooler. If I did it again, I would likely want to overnight in Sintra..

OK -- you have listed a few major sites (like the Tower of London, Borough Market, etc. But most of thise are just quick look-see's.

Buckingham Palace is literally a walk by (unless they change the current schedule, the Palace is not open to the public in June).

Parliament Square is just a lawn with a statue of Winston Churchill (unless they move it because it has become a lightening rod for protesters and vandalism). It really isn't a 'site' but merely the route to walk between Big Ben and Westminster Abbey.

You can walk across Tower Bridge to get from The Tower to Borough Market.

Piccadilly (just Piccadilly - not 'Street') Isn't really a must unless you are going to the Ritz Hotel or Fortnum & Mason, or the Wolseley, or the Royal Academy, or a few other posh places. Piccadilly Circus takes a few minutes (preferably at night when the lights are more impressive -- and in June that will be really late like after 10PM.

Yes, you are missing a ton of key locations. A few would include the V&A, British Museum, Westminster Abbey, St Paul's Cathedral, National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, Churchill War Rooms, one or both Tate's, Hampton Court Palace, Greenwich, Imperial War Museum, Windsor Castle, theatre, maybe the Eye, depending on your interests the Warner Brothers Harry Potter Studio. There are many more but these will get you started.

Madrid and Lisbon will both be extremely hot in June. Check weatherspark.com for various climate statistics.

The Duoro valley is quite some distance from Lisbon. It combines more easily with Porto than with Lisbon.

Sounds like you would do well to consult some god guidebooks!
