We're looking forward to returning to London for a visit in early December. Have no qualms whatsoever. Granted it is some months away and perhaps world calm will have improved, but we would never inquire about our "safety or welcomeness" in our destinations. Nor would we ever change our plans unless there was some obvious danger, i.e. volcanic eruption, etc. We've encountered bomb scares in London on previous trips and managed to carry on. Why would it be any different now?
I must wholeheartedly agree with Xenos. Watching those we "freed" sacking their own cities has made we wonder to some extent why we bothered. As far as WMDs are concerned, IMO the case was never made that we were endangered by Iraq, any more than we are by N. Korea, India and any other number of countries with nuclear weapons.
The frequent comparisons with WWII that Bush supporters make I feel are a real stretch. Those of us who were around then find it difficult to see any parallels.
And before I step down from my soap box, the 70% in favor stats certainly don't apply to my neck of the woods. I'm curious when polling whom they ask; no one has ever requested my opinion. Are they only conducted in areas of the US when they know they can count on support?
More to the point, Tim continue with your trip and plans. Enjoy yourself, London is a wonderful, interesting city.
