trip to italy
hi all fodorites.
We are planning for a trip to rome , venice and milan in september as we have to attend a conference in turin. How far are these places from turin and is it possible to get a holiday package to these places for 2/3 days from turin? How much would it cost us? |
You could easily visit all three without a tour package, if you want to. They're very popular and straightforward to get to. trenitalia.com is the Italian train web site (there is a UK flag up top to take you to an English version), and will have schedules and prices. You may not be able to book for your dates yet, but you can look at schedules a week or two away to get an idea of times and cost.
|
Confused as to whether you mean 2/3 days total from Turin, or 2/3 days for each location. Makes a big difference. A holiday package may be difficult to find, but you can easily get around on your own. Where are you coming from, and have you booked flights already?
|
Yup.........its 2/3 days in total........we are from india and our flight tickets are booked already........what are like the most interesting places in rome and venice..............how far is florence and paris
|
You can't do Rome, Venice and Milan all in 2-3 days - I assumed that you meant 2-3 days each!
trenitalia.com will tell you how long a train journey is to each city - did you look there? I would pick one place, maximum. Milan is closest but Venice or Florence may be worth the extra time. Are you flying into/out of Turin? |
You cannot see all those cities in 2/3 days from Torino. Choose one, preferably the closest one, tho since that is Milan, I would choose either Venice or Florence. Forget Paris.
|
Where do you fly home from? You have time to visit only one city so choose the one near to your departure city if that works. I would not choose Milan. Venice or Rome are more interesting.
|
Turin is a 2/3 day visit by itself.
I will be in Turin for 3 nights in October. My eyes tear up when I write that. It is a foodies and wine-knows mecca...sojourn...grail... The *surrounding* cities of Alba, Bra, Barolo are incredible. I am nosy nosy! What is the business conference in Turin? It has to be in food/hospitality/ wine, right? |
Thanks all for the info...i guess we wud visit venice..since we hav heard a lot about it...we are in turin for the world tribology congress which is from 8th to 13th of sep..we are in turin for 7 days out of which 2 days we hav to mak it to the congress.......
