Trip to Iceland August 2021
Hi,
I, along with my wife and two grown up daughters are looking forward to our trip to Iceland, Europe in August 2021 for 9 nights/10 days.
I would welcome all comments to make this trip enjoyable.
1. Trip Planning: We love nature and outdoor activities which is in abandons in Iceland. - Should we spend a day in Reykjavik or just see the famous church and leave the city since we have only 9 nights to visit the entire island.
- Please recommend must see itinerary visiting the island in anti-clockwise direction.
- We are not planning to do extensive hikes, only simple hikes of 1 to 2 hours.
2. Car Rental: We will be renting a car from KEF airport. Most likely a mid-size car. - Any recommendations on the rental car company to use.
- Which rental insurance to take and what to decline. Normally my credit card company gives me the liability insurance every time I rent a car in Europe by doing collision waiver. I read somewhere that Iceland laws are different!
3. Accommodations: We generally stay at Airbnb kinds of entire home accommodations. - Please give recommendations for specific areas/towns where we should be looking for such accommodations with any specific Airbnb.
- Anything to be beware of in finding the accommodations.
4. Miscellaneous: - Things to keep in mind during the Pandemic.
- Things to be aware of which may be specific to Iceland.
- I read that giving tips is not customary in Iceland, is this correct.
- Any weather related comments on what to pack for the outfits.
I appreciate in advance all comments and guidance from all.
