Trip to Germany with Family of 6!!!!
 

Hi,

I have figured out where my family and I will go on our trip to Germany. We are so excited. We leave next Sat. I need some help with hotels.
We are staying at the Sheraton in Munich.We will then travel to Grainau and staying at the Eibsee. After that area we will travel to Salzburg and are planning on staying in the town ofBerchtesgaden. We need a place to stay. Does anyone have agood place in this location.
Next on to Rothenburg. I do not have a hotel here either. We then thought of heading to a hotel at the Frankfurt airport any suggestions?? Is there a Kempinski Hotel there?
How does my trip sound?

Your excitement is quite understandable.

As regards Rothenburg O.D. Tauber, you'd be well advised to look into the within-the-walls-located Hotel Gerberhaus. It's moderately priced, stylish, and offers fine, friendly service. You'll enjoy the Gerberhaus' breakfast, too. Plus, there's a delightful open-air garden cafe located on the second floor.

P.S. Make a special point of walking Rothenburg's walls during the early morning or just before sunset. It's an atmospheric, picture-perfect way of walking off that fine Franconian cuisine.

We stayed at a hotel quite near FRA which, in 2002, cost $115 for a clean but mediocre room (we'd had better in pensions for $45); it had 3 restaurants of which 2 were closed. The 3rd had no meal under $25, plus salad, plus plus. Sorry, don't remember name.

Steigenberger Esprix Hotel is located on the Frankfurt airport property, over on the Rhein Main Air Base side. We have stayed there and it is a great value.

We stayed at the Hotel Bavaria in Berchtesgaden.

Great breakfast buffet, the kitchen is one of the better ones in all of Berchtesgaden.

It costed me 80 Euros last October per night for a wonderful double room with views of the Watzmann mountain.

Centrally located, five minute walk from the train station.

If you have any interest in things to do while in Berchetsgaden, let me know. The 5 of us had a great time for the 4 days we were there.
