Trip to France
I am planning my 15 days trip to France next June.
I would like spend 3 days in Paris (no more; I visited Paris and Laure Valley castels before). Then I will rent a car. I need help to make my itenirary. (I would like to include a few days on a french reviera). |
Murka,
Please provide information on things you enjoy. If it is art and culture we could answer one way; if it is large cities, shopping in an other way, etc.. One thing I would suggest is using the high speed TGV train from Paris to Nice, Aix-en-Provence rather than driving. Much more relaxing way to get to the south. You could rent a car in the south. Please advise. Anthony P.S. I believe you meant Loire Valley. |
Take the TGV (train) from Paris to Avignon and spend some time in Provence when the lavender & sunflowers are in bloom. Then drive to the Riveria for several days there - perhaps split between St Tropez & Nice. Fly home from Nice.

I suggest taking the TGV from Paris to Avignon, and renting a car there. Stay in Avignon for a day or two, then drive to Pont du Gard & Arles & the Camarque and/or Cassis. Then drive to Aix-en-Provence. Stay in Aix for a day or two, then drive to the coast. St. Tropez, Antibes, Cap d'Antibes, Nice, etc -- the world is your oyster.
(I just returned from 12 days in France, with the first 3 in Paris.) |
Forgot to add, I also suggest flying into Paris and out of Nice. Delta flies direct to/from JFK from both.
And if you rent a car, rent a small one. The streets in Provence are crazy narrow. |
Without having any idea what types of things you enjoy seeing and doing, it's pretty hard to suggest an itinerary. Maybe you want to go to Biarritz to surf. Or maybe you want to explore Burgundy and spend your days wine-tasting. Or perhaps you're a WWI buff and want to hang out in Normandy. Sure, Provence is probably a no-brainer, but without having more information about what your goals for traveling in France are, I don't know how we can really assist you.

Get the Michelin Green Guide and start leafing through it to see what sites would interest you.

That should have read WWII. World War One would be another set of sites.
