Trip suggestion-May 2009

Lookiing for suggestions for a trip May 2-10, 2009. We do not do tours - we like to plan on our own and travel by ourselves for total freedom. We've been to Poland, Italy, England, Ireland, Denmark. We love sightseeing and meeting people. Any suggestions for early May? Thanks

Portugal: Lisbon, Sintra (castles!), Obidos, and more! Read up on it, get DVDs and whatever your local library has, you won't be disappointed.

We love Germanyand Austria.

Fly into Frankfurt, spend 2-3 days along the Rhine and Mosel Rivers, then drive down to Munich for 3 days, and spend a few nights in Salzburg with a day trip to either Berchtesgaden or Wolfgangsee. Then return home from Munich Airport.

This is just one possibility and there are many.

We've found the weather to be quite pleasant in May.

We too love Germany and Austria, and May is a lovely time to visit. We have done the trip Betty suggested (3 nights around the Mosel, then Rothenburg, ending in Berchtesgaden region near Salzburg). Our first trip to this area was in May of 05 and we spent 6 nights near Berchtesgaden in a vacation apartment and a few nights in the Fussen area. The areas mentioned are beautiful.

Happy planning!
Tracy
