The weather was the best we ever had in france. 8 days of sun and 1 hour of rain! However, September isn't June...

Thank you, sssteve. Just yesterday my sister asked me to help plan an itinery to France for she and her husband. I suggested Paris (of course!) and Loire Valley. This post from you was right on time!

Very much enjoyed your trip report. So I see that the Chateau in Saumur is no longer covered with scaffolding. I appreciate the details and photos in your TR.

Thanks YK.

Actually there was still some scaffolding, but I took the picture where there wasn't any.

Hi sssteve,
Many thanks for posting such a fabulous and informative link to all your travels. So beautifully done!
I was sorry to read you didn't go inside the chateau in Azay-le-Rideau. Not fantastic but lots of huge tapestries on the walls. I have not been to the Lazer Show at night though.
If you thought Azay was as pretty as a picture you must have missed out on the most beautiful village in all of France ( so some say)!
Between Chinon and Saumur at the confluence of the rivers Vienne & Loir is the beautiful village of Candes-Saint-Martin. The restaurant at the bottom of the steps of the church was very good.

I will be studying your trip in the Yellowstone, Banff, Calgary area for a trip in 2009 to family near Grande Cache in Canada.
Thanks again!
PS. Many years since I stayed at The King David Hotel in Jerusalem!!
