Trip Report (Part 7) Family trip to Rome/Florence/Venice

Next we took two of Rick Steve’s walks, the walks took us on interesting streets as we wandered from San Marco to the Rialto Bridge and then from the Rialto to the Frari Church. We stopped for lunch along the Grand Canal when we crossed the Rialto. We then wandered the markets on the Rialto and made our way to the Frari Church. While we enjoyed the Frari Church, we were not prepared for the Scuola Grande di San Rocco just around the corner. That was just amazing! The Tintoretto’s are amazing. I am so glad that we fit the Scuola into our plans! That evening we got ourselves hopelessly lost wandering around looking for an interesting restaurant! We thoroughly enjoyed it! The next morning we separated, my husband and son heading off to the Museo Storico Navale and my daughter and I heading our to the Correr Museum. We all enjoyed our choices, although my daughter admitted that she was just getting tired of seeing artworks! Not matter how beautiful they were. The family met up midmorning and we took the vaporetto to Murano. The kids enjoyed the glass blowing demonstrations and then we ducked away from the glass salesman (not easy) and wandered the town. We stopped for lunch and then took the vaporetto back. This was our last night in Italy, and we were all glad to be in Venice. We just loved walking around the city. We wandered around, bought some souvenirs (a carnival mask, a print and some glass bead necklaces) and had a nice dinner before we went back to the hotel to pack for the trip home.

Suggestion:

It would be easier for everyone to follow your report if the parts were posted as responses to the first post.

Thanks for the report Susan. I have printed your various parts to read tonight since I'll be going to Florence and Venice soon.

Sorry I missed the first installments of your trip report. I am new to this site. I plan to travel through to Italy and Greece for three weeks in March and April.
