Flame, I realize that you posted about your trip quite awhile back but I am going to get to return to Florence in April and I wondered where the supermercato is that you mentioned a couple of times in your trip report. Are you referring to the large market behind the Medici Chapel?

Carol - No, the supermercato I wrote about is on one of the small streets off of the San Lorenzo outdoor market. I am not sure of the name of the street but it may be via Guelfa. Where are you staying in Firenze? I may be able to direct you from there.

What a great report! I am going in May and can't wait. I'm writing down several restaurants and tips from you report. Thank you for sharing!!

It is also so nice to hear you say so many nice things about the Italians. I will definitely try a few Italian phrases, even though I always feel quite silly!!

Thanks again!

Flame123...I would dearly love to exchange a private email or two with you. Would you mind? I am heading to Italy in the fall and have just a couple things. Prefer you contact me at [email protected].
Thanks, or should I say "Grazie!"

Mary - thanks for the compliments. I am glad my experiences have given you some good ideas. Have a great time (where are you going??). The Italians really are a wonderful lot. They are so friendly, willing to help, laughing, etc. I am slated for another trip also in May, this time to Puglia.

Sarge56 - I am loathe to put up my private e-mail address onto an open board such as this, so I prefer not to do that. Can't you ask me whatever you want to know via this message board? I would be happy to help with whatever I can.

Flame...sorry to respond at such a late date. Regarding the supermercato in Firenze. We will be staying in an apartment in Piazza della Republica.
