I guess I'm not cut out to be a cruiser. I spent three very busy days in Oslo, and still didn't get to all my "must sees". ;-)

I love that these threads that live a life of their own even though the OP never returned. I am still attracted to a cargo trip, in spite of the fact that there are very few passengers and no entertainment (except for probably a huge DVD collection these days). Yes, I'm a horrible person, but the fewer people I see on a cruise the better, and the worse they are, the more subject matter I have to write about in my cabin. Even if the food is horrible, that can be fun, too. I spent a week in the Maldives long ago (being stuck on an atoll in the Maldives is not very different from being on the high seas) and the food was beyond abominable because absolutely everything came out of cans, even the meat and fish. It became quickly laughable, but since there was no risk of dying of hunger or malnutrition, it didn't really bother me.

For anybody considering a trip to the Maldives -- don't panic: everything has changed since 30 years ago.

I'm sorry, but when I took my first, and LAST Carnival cruise back in 1986 the ship was CONSTANTLY pushing the product with announcements in the stateroom, etc., etc. "Bingo starts in 15 minutes..." "Don't forget the special sale on..." and Carnival Cruise Lines has CONSISTENTLY used this so-called "business model" for years.

This reports affirms the fact that people who choose Carnival, with all of the negative experiences of passengers have reported over the years, deserve what they get.
