One more point on car rental, these rates are for stick shifts and automatics are more rare to find & more expensive and better to prebook before. Sometimes car renatl rate can be cheaper but they often charge drop charge and some companies do not have drop off charge and few dollars more expensive the local renatl agents etc.

Happy travelling,
Murat

LowCountryIslander,
I saw your link to all your pictures in another note just now and went to look at them and saw that the album had 871 photos!

Kodak lets you move them so you can have albums based on cities, regions, etc.

I looked really hard for a balloon image in those tiny thumbnails, found one, and had a real TRIP with your EXCellent shots from above. Many thanks.

I'm resurrecting this thread to thank LowCountryIslander for her report. I'm in the very earliest stages of planning a 3-4 week trip to Turkey and am just beginning to read Fodorites' posts.

I enjoyed your report and found it very helpful - thanks so much! I am very glad to have learned about kokorec and to know to buy my own bath mitt. And your story of bouncing along the ground in the balloon at Cappadocia reminded me of my one and only experience with sky-diving: I was feeling so high from the experience that it barely registered that I needed to implement some of those "just in case" instructions when I landed and was dragged across the rough ground. I eventually got my parachute under control and only much later - when the endorphins wore off and I realized how much I hurt! - did I put it all in context. It all turned out OK and I wouldn't have given up the experience for anything. I hope for a soft landing at Cappadocia, but was glad for the reminder of a separate wonderful experience.

kja...

Glad my trip report is helpful to you. You can imagine my surprise when I saw a report from 2007 bubble up to the top of my list! Have a great time in Turkey.
