I spent a night in Kirkenes. Can't say it was in any way remarkable but likely different in winter. Reread my report for that part of the trip and see I barely mentioned the town:

Thursdaysd: Thanks for directing me to your report. I enjoyed reading it and seeing the great pix. I have a very similar photo of flowers growing in rubber boots!
The Kirkenes area in winter (actually it was early November when I was there) seemed VERY snowy and desolate. But I don't think I saw the town itself. It was hard to imagine anyone choosing to live there.

Actually, Honningsvag was a highlight off my trip because that is where we did a breathtaking hike. The scenery was nothing short of spectacular. But I didn't see the town itself. We were taken by bus to where we hiked.
