Great report, thanks ! To retain so much detail, I assume you must have been writing it up each night on the laptop, were you ?

I never posted a trip report after our Italian holiday in June as by the time we got home, I couldn't remember what we'd done when ! Writing a report, even if only for yourself, is great way of hanging on to all your memories.

Thank you so much for your trip report. It sounds like you had such a good time. Any chance of seeing your photos online somewhere?

I can't believe how many times you fell!

You are going to love Scotland.

Sorry to hear your West End theatre experience was one of the few things that didn't work out, what did you miss out on seeing?

I stand corrected... cooling towers
They sure look like all the nuclear power plants I've ever seen!!!

Henneth... those look like the right towers

Morgana, your help was wonderful. I'm very glad I heeded you and took that trip through the dales. It was a delightful day, capped by the best Abbey of the bunch (Jervaulx).

Julie, I'm glad I've inspired a trip to Yorkshire

Emoor, I went to the site and got them. Our first trip we couldn't get in because there was a three day wait and we were only there two days) but that may have changed. There IS a ticket booth, and you MAY be able to purchase on the day, or a couple days before.

Also, on my homepage (listed below) there is my previous trip report to Scotland -- it might help you with your upcoming trip, too.

Kristin, research or There are lists of hotels in each of Priceline's 'areas' for London. Find an area (I recommend Mayfair or Kensington) that has NO hotels you WOULDN'T want, and stick to those areas.

As to what to see in 2 days, it depends on what you like seeing. For me, since I love history and culture, it would be the Tower of London, British Museum, and St. Paul's Cathedral (it is simply breathtaking inside!). I'm not a shopper, but if you are, go to Harrod's and Fortnum & Mason (and Lush!) It really depends on what YOU like to do!

Caroline, I carry a little notebook with me, and at lunch times, or evening, I jot down salient points and impressions. Then, when I'm back, it jogs my memory for the rest of the narrative.

I have this report up on my website ( and there will be pictures there -- but I have 2000 pictures to filter through first!!!

I'll let you know on this thread when they are up.

Elaine: we were there to see The Producers I guess next time I'll have to get balcony seats!

Thanks everyone for the kind words... it isn't as wonderful as Marilyn and Phil Flash's reports, but I had fun with the trip AND the report
