Thanks, can't wait to read your TR, maitaitom!
|
Again, thanks for bringing this thread to my attention, TDudette -- I enjoyed it and found it very helpful!
|
Loved the report -- like going on a little vacation. You are a great writer -- thanks for sharing! :)

Was reading the Beautiful Nimes thread and saw this report. All sounds lovely! My neighbors spent 6 weeks in Aix and loved it. They felt it was a great size, a nice amount of buzz, beautiful gardens, cafes, fountains -- very Parisian feeling. :) They are how I found Aix as a place to live for a month while my UCLA daughter studies abroad... ;)

Merci, tout le monde!

TDudette, what a wonderful TR, wonder how I didn’t see it when planning our June 2018 visit. We too loved Provence and want to go back to explore some more. Your comments about the lavender ice cream made me laugh, my mom loves lavender and but after one taste of the ice cream she handed it back to me saying she’d stick with the fragrances! |
Just found this again TDudette and read thoroughly. The driver comment about vipers in the lavender fields struck me as I have pictures of my 20-year-old daughter running through the fields.
It sounds like you also have been to Montpellier and Verona. Did you write trip reports on those? I love your detail! What do you like better, Aix or Perugia? |
Thanks, geetika! Did you do a trip report?
And thanks again, Irice. I wondered if the asp warning was made up to keep folks out of the lavender. DH and I wanted to buy a place in Italy but we couldn't decide what town we liked the most. We had just started visiting Southern France and liking that as well. That quandary keeps me from answering your question easily here.. Aix was much easier for me to walk around and I found our area more atmospheric. We found it easier to take the bus to Marseille and train from there for day trips. On the other hand, day trips by train were more convenient from Perugia. Perugia is more hilly than Aix. Both have a great student "vibe". I can't decide. Yes, we visited Montpellier and Verona but before I started writing TRs. Since my scrap books will probably get scrapped upon my expiration, maybe I ought to put them on Fodor's. thanks again folks. |
