Trip Report - 7 days in Paris
I was in Paris with my wife in late May/early June this year. Since it is too long to post here, I have put it in my Blog below, with photos and a few videos. Hope it will be helpful for those planning a trip to Paris. Cheers.

Merci beaucoup for sharing!

Really enjoyed your blog, ronald.
One question: How long have those "tusks" been up at the Chateau de Versailles entrance? They are absolutely horrible!!!! |
Thanks. About those "tusks". I don't know how long they have been there. There are smaller ones in the garden as well and they look worse there. Maybe the locals can answer your question!

Excellent report. Thanks for sharing.
The person currently in charge of Versailles is very interested in modern art and has been inviting unusual artists for the past couple of years. He is a former Minister of Culture, but he was also director of the Pompidou Center from 1996 to 2002 -- maybe he has the two places confused. |
Nice blog. Look forward to seeing the rest of the trip.
|
thanks for sharing...agree with the others...those tusks are just awful
|
Thanks for all the comments. Actually, in real life the "tusks" at the entrance give the Palace a grand appearance as you approach it. Myabe it would have blend in better if they have used the same brown colour as the Palace, not the dark rusty brown chosen. The smaller ones inside the garden look more like inverted rib-cage bones from a dinosaur and totally out of place. Just my view.

My niece asked me why there were giant french fries in front of Versailles. I had no idea, so now I can tell her that it is supposed to be modern art.
|
Video taping the blinking Eiffel Tower. Doh! Really enjoying your blog as it's filling in the places we missed visiting last month. Your photography is amazing.
|
Thanks, Mary. I have also missed a number of places that I wanted to go but needed to balance my interests with those of my wife since she must also enjoy her visit. Most of the photos were extracted from the videos I took. It is a lengthy process going through them but then you get many frames to choose from though some are not as sharp as I wanted them to be.

I have just posted the 7th day of my trip which was my last full day in Paris. I came across a small piece of street art near Place Vendome but I have no idea what it is or why it is there. I hope the locals can shed some light on it. Hi kerouac, are you there?

Another good report! I dream of eating escargot again! My mouth is watering Ronald! I also took some photos at jardin des Tuileries and Arc du Carousel but in black/white. I don't know how to upload them to this site.

Oh, your last day in Paris was absolutely fantastic, and that was a really excellent price for that wonderful dinner.
I have never seen that intriguing piece of street art, but I promise that I will investigate! :-) |
Thank you all for the comments.
Hi Mary, I am new to this Forum so not sure if you can upload photos here, older members may be able to help. Otherwise you can use photo-sharing sites like flickr and the like. Hi kerouac, eagerly awaiting the result of your investigation on the street art (for want of a better name.) |
Enjoyed your pictures and blog very much. I have put your favorite restaurant on our list for our September trip. Many thanks!
|
Wonderful blog and photos. We'll be there in again September. Maybe we'll see nancy1652 at the Bistro de la Porte Dorée.
|
Hope both of you will meet in the Bistrot de la Porte Doree, then you can compare notes on the dishes that you order! Just to make sure you'll get there, the address is 5 Boulevard Soult, 75012, Paris. Take Metro Line 8, direction Creteil; get off at Porte Doree stop and exit to Avenue Daumesnil. Walk pass Subway and then Quick (French fast-food), turn the corner to Boulevard Soult and you'll see the Bistrot. Bon apetit!
|
Hi kerouac, did you manage to investigate the piece of street art (for want of a better name) that I captured near Place Vendome?
