Trip Report -- Amsterdam and Paris, spring 2007 -- some narrative, but lots of photographs

I spent five nights in Amsterdam at the Pulitzer Hotel and six nights in Paris at the Hotel Monge in the Latin Quarter -- late April-early May. As usual, it was great. My thanks to all of you for the tips and instructions, especially to MorganB. I just LOVE this board.

It's taken a couple of weeks, but my trip report and photos (including Keukenhof) are now available.

Thanks for the comments. A few months ago I went into my local camera store (Samy's) and asked why my colors were flat when I had prints made, especially the reds. The guy behind the counter asked if I had the camera set to "vivid." "Vivid?" Well, I looked and lo and behold there is a setting on my camera (Canon PowerShot G6) for shooting in vivid color. You saw the results. I wish I'd known about that sooner.

Thanks for sharing. Your photos are great. I wish I had known about the vivid option on my new camera before we went to AMS/Paris in March

Thanks so much for showing us your photos. The pictures tell your story so well.

Queen's Day! I had no idea there was a Queens Day. What an event!

I'm hoping to catch a puppet show in Paris with my girls at the end of June (we won't under stand it either!).

Absolutely beautiful - thanks! What is the first photo of your Paris Trip report - and where is it?

Thanks again for sharing.

Great report!
Koninginnedag (Queens Day) was less crowded in Amsterdam this year than in previous years. Many Dutch people decided it wasn't worth the hassle and visited their hometown celebrations or went to Utrecht or Den Haag instead. Every town and village has it's own version of the "vrije markt" and always has bands playing. Tradionally the day ended with fireworks, but since the disaster in Enschede a few years back that has been lees common sadly. My town now has a rather feeble laser show to finish.
The Twee Grieken is the TWO greeks not the three (that would be drie)

Thank you, hetismij, for pointing out it's two Greeks instead of three. I'll fix that tonight. What happened in Enschede? I live 15 miles from Disneyland and I always know when it 9:30 pm -- fireworks every night.

What a wonderful report! And it was exciting to see many of the places I visited in Amsterdam several years ago.
