I'm pretty sure that they have done these routes non-stop in the past - perhaps there will be something in the spring/summer schedules. we did a flight from Newquay to Hannover once - it involved us changing planes at Birmingham but the luggage went straight through in the normal way.

yestravel - I'll try to remember to check in here when I get an email from them with the summer schedules; as we've flown with them before I'm on their mailing list. You'd like Newquay airport; it's the sort of place where the person who checks you in and gives you your boarding card does the security checks and then checks the boarding card s/he gave you again at the gate. I even got greeted by name when i checked in once.

My wife and I are planning a trip to UK. We will be in UK for 20 days. We will likely spend 10 days in London. We would like to spend most of our time exploring Ireland and others.

Thanks to you all the England portion of this trip is starting to take shape. As suggested we have London days altogether and now at the end of the trip. Booked an apt in London in Sloan Square for the last week of the trip.

Will take the express bus from Heathrow to Oxford where we will stay for 3 nights. Will pick up a car in Oxford and drive to the Cotswold where we have booked lodging for 5 nights. Hope to hike and do some day trips as well.

Then the order is not clear given that we are waiting to see about direct flights in May from Newquay to Scotland. We will either visit Bath directly after Cotswold if we can get a direct flight from NQY to Scotland. If that doesn't work we will put Bath at the end of this portion of the trip and take a direct flight from Bristol to Scotland.

We will drive down the northern coast and most likely stay in St. Ives for 3 nights. Then we want to go back up the southern coast and spend ~3 days in or around the Dartmour Natl Park.

What do you think? Other places to stay? Would love suggestions for lodging. Thanks again for your suggestions!

I might look in South Devon - Maybe in the Kingsbridge/Salcombe area -- close enough for day trip(s) into Dartmoor.

Do visit Slapton Sands if you can -- where the major exercises prior to DDay were held. many casualties from both friendly fire and UBoat attacks.

I appreciate all the information. It has so shaped the trip. I'll likely finish up the England portion of the trip next week. Then onto our time in Scotland.

Two gardens that I visited in Cornwall were the Lost Gardens of Heligan and Lanhydrock. (google them) I loved them and spent a good part of a day at each of them in early May last year.

Besides the two that irishface visited, other great gardens in Cornwall include Trelissick [on the Fal], Trebah and Glendurgan on the Helford, Trengwainton and Trewidden near Penzance, Trewithen near Truro, and the gardens on Tresco on the Scilies.

And those are just the major ones.

May is one of the best times to visit as though some of the gardens may not be completely at their best [the magnolias and camellias will like as not be over] there are still lots of lovely things to see and enjoy.

Sounds like we will have no shortage of things to see.

Nice plan but if you could squeeze one more night for St Ives, I don't think you'd regret it.

You know it always seems like we have so much time and then suddenly wish we had more time.

Nicely paced itinerary. If <i>anything</i> I'd maybe cut one night from Bath and/or Oxford add it/them to Cornwall. It is a short drive from Oxford into the Cotswolds and a relatively short drive from most of the Cotswolds to Bath so you wouldn't lose half a day with either move.

But that is just tweaking and it is still a good plan as you have it.
