Trip planning for Spring2011!
 

Hi, I'm hoping to plan a trip to paris with my wife for next spring. Since i'm still working on places to stay and monuments/attractions to visit i'm open to any suggestion or special places! I don't have a budget worked out yet or the exact dates, so let me know what your ideas arem!

jason1444 - it appears you are a first time poster and I am glad you have come to this forum seeking advice.

You haven't really offered a lot for us to work with other than a destination and approximate time. Most veteran posters on Fodor's will likely suggest you obtain (through your library or book store) a guide book on France or Paris and have you read it. Once that is done you may have more specific questions about how best to see attractions etc.

There are so many fine people who participate in this forum. They will be willing to assist you once you define more fully your goal. Good luck with your planning.

In my view, the first and most important thing to let us know is how many days you plan to spend there -- if not a definite number, and approximation.

That (and an idea of your interests -- art, history, music, shopping, nightlife, etc.) will give us a chance to set priorities regarding places to see.

This is essential, since one could spend a lifetime in Paris and not run out of things to see and do -- provided one doesn't run out of money. :-)

If not dates, at least the month - March, April or May?

Hotel choices are a popular topic here and there and many threads here to help you choose. Detemine your budget and 'needs', and off you go. I would recommend a search, because I think answers are in the archives. There are tow jumbo threads called 'Left Bank Hotels' and 'Right Bank Hotels' that will keep you busy reading.

Where to stay may be your first question. With its excellent public transit, when staying within the boundaries of Paris you can get around using the Metro...however..for s first visit, I would think you want to be clsoe to the centre, so you can walk to some places, more restaurant choices,etc.. If you look at a map of paris, this would be roughly the 1st/4th/5th/6th/7th arrondissements. Favorites here tend to be the 5/6th, but the others are fine for the reasons above.
