trip insurance... you might just have it!
I was reviewing some old cc statements and realized that I booked our apartment with a credit card. Guess what ? As one of their benefits, they offer trip insurance. If our flights are cancelled and we cannot be re-accommodated within 24 hours, then we are eligible.
I paid for our apartment in Paris with that credit card. Although there is a cap, most of our apartment would be covered.
All of the rest of our trip is basically refundable or too small to worry about (rounding!).
makes my stress level decrease significantly.
check your arrangements... you never know!

My Continental (Chase) World MasterCard even says that they will ship my body back if I die on a trip.
I started reading the fine print of mine after my travel companion for this next trip said she never bothers with trip insurance since she just charges everything to her card that covers her for eveything on her trip.
I don't know about that but I was surprised at some of the things it did cover.

I talked with MasterCard's insurer and they MAY try to weasel out by saying, "Act of God," "Force of Nature," and therefore excluded from coverage, so I'm not sure whether MasterCard will honor the policy for the volcano. It would be worth it to submit a claim if it comes down to that. We realized that we had charged our plane tickets on MasterCard & it had travel cancellation insurance on it, which is why I made the phone call (started by calling the customer service # on the credit card & then was given the trip cancellation #).
