Trip Insurance

Has anyone ever purchased health insurance for a trip abroad?

My situation: my husband and I are quitting our jobs (therefore no health insurance anymore) and traveling in Europe (Greece, England, Turkey, Croatia, Italy, Slovenia) for 2 months this summer/fall. We are thinking of purchasing some insurance in case something major happens abroad. Any advice?

Assuming you are in the States, could you not go on Cobra for at least those two months? You'd want to make sure it's going to cover you overseas, though.

There are previous threads about travel insurance, one recent; just do a search of the site.

... this is not an ad, but suggest you access TravelGuard at wwww.TravelGuard.com, to review their worldwide health protetion package. I just purchased a short-term $1 million policy, which includes medical evacuation by private plane/choper and full emergency medical treatment, with a $100 deductible, and did it on line, quite easily. The cost was extremely reasonable. This firm was recommended by my travel agent, and the staff could be reached easily for advice during my sign-up. Again, this is not an ad, I have no connection with the company other than as a policy holder.

I don't have experience with Cobra but Travel Guard is very reasonable. Their staff has helped us with useful information in the past about how to take full advantage of their services.
