Trip from Tuscany to Venice

How about some help with a round trip from Tuscany to Venice.
We are a foursome travelling next Sept. and would like to rent a car in Florence, tour the beautiful Tuscan region, visit Venice and return auto to Florence. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated including accommodations, towns, "not to miss sights" and dining.

How many days do you have? What is your price range?

Rent the car in Florence and tour Tuscany which is a large area. Then return the rental car and take a train from Florence to Venice after you've toured Tuscany.
If you need to return to Florence, take the train back. Otherwise, fly out of Venice.

We have about 7 to 10 days. I was hoping to do a round trip to tour the region and not waste travel time. I will check a map but I understand the area from Florence to Venice is beautiful...but what else is new. I would be open to tour Tuscany and then travel by rail to Venice.

Much of Tuscany that people tour is not between Florence and Venice, it's south of Florence. Between Venice and Florence is Emilia Romagna.
