trip for entering rome colliseum and avoiding crowds
okay - I've been searching for this info.... I know it's here...but now I'm giving up......so please forgive me!
isn't there some sort of "trick" to getting tickets and entering the Colliseum in Rome so that you don't have to stand in line forever. Do you go in from the Palatine Musuem - getting tickets for both? Anybody know??? |

WONDERFUL!!!!! Thanks so much!

The other tip besides combining Palatine with the Colosseum is to buy the Romapass, which is a combined entry pass and transport ticket. It covers the entry to the Colosseum (one of many sights/museums) and you go to the front of the looooooong line with it to enter the Colosseum.

Will check into that. Thanks Travelnut!

And yet another option is to opt for one of the dozens of tours that take you into the Colliseum. We were standing in line when someone approached us about a tour in English. It was only a few euro more than the ticket itself, and we got right in. And as an added bonus the tour was neat.

The thing to bear in mind is that everyone still needs to go through security, so you're still going to stand in line. In November, I was with a guided tour and already had a ticket, but it was still about 20 minutes to get through the metal detectors.
