We take an annual trip to Europe every fall, and, ever since airbnb has been in business, we have used their services as our primary source (Home Away and booking.com as backups). We generally rent for two but did a month-long trip for three and have done as many as seven. We have found many beautiful apartments, with excellent hospitality and concierge attention from landlords) and we try for $100/nigh or lesst. In Italy, especially when we stay away from the larger cities, we often get great apartments for $60-80/night. As I posted earlier, we had a very nice apartment for 7 in normally expensive Rome for less than $150 last October. Switzerland in a few weeks, as with Munich, is a different story, and that is one the reasons we prefer to stay around the Mediterranean.
