trip Delphi and Meteoria
Has anyone been on the 3 day trip to Delphi and Meteoria?
We are staying over night in Delphi and then a night in Meteoria. Atleast the hotel in Meteoria has a pool to relax in the evening. But what is there to do in Delphi for the afternoon,, evening and then the following morning? My point is you can only look at ruins for so long. Thanks BK |
I went on a tour several years ago that included a night in Delphi as well as one in Meteora and one in Olympia. In Delphi we arrived in the evening, toured the archeological site in the morning and took the bus back to Athens in the afternoon.
The evening in Delphi after dinner was spent browsing in the town, where I found a fascinating antique shop, and looking at the spectacular view. I could have looked at the ruins in Delphi all day, there are two different sites on opposite sides of the road, and the upper site could take hours if you climbed to the top and looked at everything. The museum is also interesting. |
Thank you. BKoch

Bkoch, are you aware of your exact timetables? What time do you arrive in Delphi? Is your guide taking you to the sites and/or museum this day or next morning? Do you have any idea on what you'd like to see and do on your spare time?

Delphi is a great site. We stayed the evening before and were first to the site in the morning and had it virtually to ourselves. After about two and a half hours the site was filling up with tour buses so we headed to the museum which was still not crowded.
The village of Delphi is delightful and you should have no problem putting in time. Explore the main street. Find a taverna with a view over the valley of olive trees descending down to the Gulf of Corinth. There is lots to see and do. Here are images. The first several are of Olympia but the rest of the album is Delphi and Meteroa. Olympia Delfi Meteora https://www.flickr.com/photos/stanbr...7645469717811/ |
