Trip advice for Tuscany

I'm doing a 1-week cycling trip on my own in Tuscany in Sept. I finish in Cortona and I was thinking of heading to Florence for a night. Does anyone know the best way to get to Florence from Cortona? Any hotel recommendations?
Then, I'm heading to Cinque Terra for 3 days,to recover from the cycling!
The RyanAir flights back to Stansted are cheaper from Venice or Rome, than from Pisa.
Is it realistic to to go either Rome or Venice from Cinque Terra or is too far/expensive?
Any advice would be welcome.
Thank you.

Kel - Cortona-Florence is probably easiest by train. For details:

www.trenitalia.com

Cortona station is below the town - there is a regular connecting bus service.

Cinque Terre to Rome or Venice takes several hours by rail - so the inconvenience and expense may well outway any saving. (You can find rail fares on trenitalia.com).
When are you travelling?

Thanks, Steve!
I'd love to meet the yoke who designed the Trentalia website ... very frustrating.
I'm going in September. Getting very, very nervous about cycling up the hills! But looking forward to being rewarded with wine every night.
Perhaps I'll wait a couple of weeks and look for a seat sale with Ryan Air. I can fly back to Stansted any time from Sep 17 - 22.
