Trinity College Food?
 

Whenever we travel in the US, we like to grab meals on college campuses - generally plain but good food at reasonable prices. Has anyone eaten at Trinity?

I did on a trip to Ireland several years ago. I stayed on Trinity's campus in summer, when they turn their dorms into bed-and-breakfasts. The breakfast I had as part of the experience wasn't fancy, but was perfectly OK. No idea how it is these days.

We've caught an occassional lunch or snack at Trinity a few times. The cafeteria is across the big, central courtyard from the building that houses the Book of Kells.

It was perfectly fine, but I wouldn't rate it cheap enough or delectable enough to warrant a special trip.

Itallian_Chauffer probably ate in The Buttery - which is generally only open during term time. However, you're better off doing what the Students do - eat elsewhere! I'd recommend crepes in Lemon or sandwiches from Cafe Sol (both bottom of Dawson Street) or either Down to Earth or Simon's Place in the Georges Street Arcade. Great food and won't cost the earth.

Alternatively buy a picnic in the basement of Marks & Spencer's, Grafton Street and eat in College Green while watching the cricket (which is what I'm doing right now). If you're thirsty, buy a beer in the Pavillion ("The Pav") - it's the best beer garden in Dublin!

YAR, it WAS the Student Cafeteria, but I thought that was what the OP was asking about.

Sorry - didn't make it clear - the Student Canteen is called The Buttery.
