Trevi Fountain Turned Off???

It this true? My daughter tells me that Trevi Fountain is not running. Is this true for other city fountains? Any news as to how long this will last? We will be in Rome week after next...

DH just told me this evening that a worker by mistake chopped thru an ancient pipe and the water to several Roman fountain has been stopped. No idea how long THAT will take to fix. The Romans love their fountains, but there is a palpable "manana" attitude, and the weekend is coming!! Pretty funny, unless of course you are en route to Rome and want to see the fountains. Porco miseria!

I thought one of the news stories said they had already diverted water to the fountain.

Ciao

I hope it's fixed by the time you get there, Linda. It's all happening in Rome at the moment. Some drunk moron drove down the Spanish Steps thinking it was a road - now I know why the street it's on is called Via del Babuino (Street of the Baboon). Here's the story - http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599...rom=public_rss

I liked the fact that whilst the pipe is getting fixed they are using a much younger pipe for the water - from 2AD
