Trentalia ticket question
 

I purchased tickets on line and got confirmation which I will bring with me. It is not a ticket so I'm assuming I just get on the train and show this paperwork to conductor. Normally, when you have a ticket I know you have to validate it at the machine.

Any help appreciated.

When we purchased tickets on line from Trentalia a few months ago from Venice to Florence and Florence to Rome on the , I selected the method of delivery as "ticketless" and received an email with a PDF attachment with the payment details, including train number and seat numbers. We just printed the PDFs and showed them to the conductor when we were on board.

The email included this info:

If you have chosen the ticketless option, we remaind you that it's necessary for you to print and keep this email as a confirmation so that you can show it to the personnel on board the train who will issue the ticket to you.

If you have choosen the ticketless option with email payment receipt, the personnel will only check for your presence on board.
We invite you to print this email to communicate the pnr (booking code) to the train staff when asked and for any eventual bonus request.

If you have chosen the ticketless solution with receipt issued on-board, please print and keep this confirmation e-mail and show it to the onboard personnel, who will then issue it.

Tickets for the Fast Eurostar trains, all of which have reserved sears, do not have to be validated before boarding. Validation s required for the slower Regionale or Intercity trains.

There no need to keep track of what kind of tickets need validation. If it needs a validation, it says "DA CONVALIDARE" on the ticket.

The only tickets for Italian trains that require validating in the machines are for the slow R trains (no reserved seating on these trains and tickets can be valid for two months). All other tickets purchased (AV,ES,IC) are for a specific train at a specific time with seats assignments.
