Trenitalia with a French credit card
Oh yes, more trenitalia problems...
I have read all the posts about problems trying to reserve on the trenitalia site. I am using a French Carte Bleue, has anyone in France had these same problems as U.S. cards ? I have tried 2 different cards, both have been denied , no reason given (banks are closed now or I would try and call). I ended up blocked out of my first trenitalia account as my card(s) had been denied 3 times. I am certain I have entered the account number correctly (and I have tried with and without spaces in the number). I opened a new trenitalia account as suggested on another thread and tried 2 more times, both denied again.
Any more suggestions ? I will try contacting the bank in the morning but as I am leaving on Sat I was hoping to get this settled tonight. I am trying to go from Ventimiglia to Venice 30/08 return 07/09 if that matters.
Thanks in advance.
Kelly

Hi K,
The problem with Trenitalia seems to be somewhere in the computer that handles CC transactions.
It seems to disapprove of most CCs, irrespective of color or nationality.
There are a lot of trains between V and Venice.
You can buy your tickets when you arrive in Italy.
Enjoy your visit.

I recently tried to purchase rail tickets online with Trenitalia but it kept denying. My Bank (Commonwealth in Australia) actually rang us to first of all check that it was us trying to make the purchase and secondly to let us know that they would not process because of previous cases of fraudulent activity the Bank had experienced with the company. Maybe that is the case with many other Banks. My bank suggested using another bank credit card or paying over the phone to Trenitalia. In the end I paid more with Rail Europe and will buy the rest in Italy when there.

Update : the battle was lost last night with Trenitalia however, the war was won this morning on French soil. I went to the train station in Nice and was able to buy the tickets from them. I was surprised I was able to as I couldnt do it on the SNCF site or over the phone. Venice here I come !
