Trenitalia - What am I missing ??

Looking to purchase 2 R/T tix Rome to Assisi for 2/12/15,,,out in morning and back early evening. Given that it is 50 days out, figured would be no problem finding on Trenitalia website. Despite how I search, only finding 1 solution which is a train at 19:55 which obviously doesn't work unless we wish to stay overnight.

Can anyone offer any solutions to this ?? Is it me or the website or are these fares not posted yet ??

Thanks !!

I see many solutions with travel time about 2 hours 15 mins with change at Foligno.

However, these are regional trains and cannot be booked more than 7 days prior to departure.

Yes, there are lots of options. I'm guessing you didn't put in the departure time correctly, i.e., if it defaults to 19:00, you'll only see trains leaving after that hour. Try again.

Thank you to all.

Yes, don't buy these online as regional tickets online have more restrictions. There is no advantage to buying regional tickets online as there are no discounts and regional trains do not have reserved seating. The don't sell out. Just buy a ticket, validate and hope you find a seat.

If you want to see times/prices, just enter a date within the next 7 days. They won't change.

>>>if it defaults to 19:00<<<

It used to default to the time you clicked on the website converted to Italian time. I've never seen it default to a specific set time such as 19:00. Trenitalia seems to have corrected all that lately though. Now when you load their website, it defaults to your own time zone. It only shows hours to if you click the website between 11:00 and 11:59, it shows 11.

The train starts in Rome. I travel frequently on that line, because I live a little further north of Assisi on the same line. I've never had trouble finding a seat on the regional trains. It's used to a certain extent by commuters in the late afternoon and early evening, and that's usually when I'm going in that direction myself. I've always had a seat, and my husband and I have always been able to sit together.
