Trenitalia website

I am attempting to book a train reservation from Siena to Venice's Santa Lucia station using Trenitalia's website.

Trenitalia's reply to my search request is a little confusing. They list as Arrival stations both Mestre and Venice Santa Lucia in black and red and in some cases in reverse order (even though you cannot get to Santa Lucia without going through Mestre first).

Can someone help me understand what black vs red means and why the towns could be listed in reverse order?

Thanks!

Hi W,

I can't find your problem.

All of the trains I found clearly show if you have to change trains at Mestre.

May I suggest that you take the SITA bus to Florence and then train to Venice from there?

I think that you will find it is easier and faster.

I can't help you with your question but can give you some advice. Just buy your tickets at the train station (self help kiosk) I had months of confusion with the website but was told to just show up at the train station and I had no problems purchasing my tickets there, simple and in English.

The black is the destination station and the red is an intermediate station stop in the same city.
