trenitalia website

I have been trying to no avail to get prices for a trip on the ES from Rome to Naples. I certainly can get info on times and trains but can no longer book on line as well as find out the cost. I also cannot see that the ES 500 is up and running on that route. Anyone know how to get this info on line?

I just looked up www.trenitalia.com for Roma Termini to Napoli Centrale ES9425 1/9 10:45am departure as an example, it showed €32.54 for 1st class and €22.21 for the 2nd class as intera(full) price as soon as I hit the shopping cart on the right.

Thanks so much Greg. I know the first time I looked it up the price was there.Returning to it just now...again nothing. Am I dumb or what? No shopping cart and definitely NO in regards to buying on line.
Would YOU know anything regarding the new ES 500 on that route?

Trains between Roma and Napoli are frequent. Just buy a ticket when you're there. Train fares in Italy are low.
The new high speed line is supposed to be opening, but I don't think the schedules have been changed. When the line is fully open, the schedules will show this as the journey time will be much less.

The ES 500 commercial service is already in service.

The passenger service, when it starts, will only be a couple of trains per day.
It's scheduled to take appr 1hr 30-35 mins - so only 10-15 mins quicker than the standard ES service.

I was also trying to get prices online but it appears that prices are only available for trips within the next 60 days. I just changed the date to get an idea of what the price will be when I actually plan to travel.

A correction to my post above.

According to the Italian press the ETR 500 Rome-Naples service has already started.

As this is currently a 'promotional' service (- until 22 January) there is no charge if you travel before that date :).
However you must still make a reservation - and these are almost exhausted due to high demand ...

There is currently one service each way per day (08.30 from Rome, returning 18.30 from Napoli Centrale)

The service will be doubled to twice daily each way as from late January.

For details (in Italian):

When running commercially it is hoped to reduce the running time to 75 mins.

Thankyou so much everyone. We aren't going until May so perhaps by then there will be an expanded schedule for the ES500
