Trenitalia/service suspended
Has anyone figured out how to register for online purchases on this site?
We're traveling from Nice to Genoa and a 45 minute connection for a fast train (28min) to Santa Margherita Ligure. This train says it's available for online purchase. No can do without registering! Also, the price shows up 5+ euros but when I started the reservation it came to 7+ euros per person.
I've already bought my tkts online from Nice on the SNCF site. It's always so easy with them. I tried to buy the Genoa/SML tkts as well but they do not recognize SML so I guess it has to be through Trenitalia.
Should I just forget about advance purchase and buy them thru a tkt machine at Genoa Principe? We're traveling on a Saturday and I don't want to loose any more time getting to our hotel.
Thanks, Danielle

I have never heard of anyone who has successfully registered for this site outside of Italy, or within Italy for that matter.
The train from Genova to SML is either a regionale or a diretto. These are local trains, and I see on the site that there are two or three an hour. You will be perfectly fine buying the tickets in Genova.
The higher price may be for booking on ine. Who knows, since no one can book online.

I bought my First class tkts from Nice through to Santa Margherita Ligure. It was on Rail Europe's site. This is all a new experience for me. I think I have to make reservations when I get to Nice. All I know is what it says on the tkts. Santa Chiara: will I be all right? I am a bit apprehensive about this trip. Work2fly: when will you be in Nice? Judy

Hi Judy,
We'll be arriving in Nice March 20, traveling to SML March 22 and to Florence March 24. I noticed the Rail Euope site shows the fares about double the Trenitalia fare and they also add a service charge. So, I think I'll wait and see if I can purchase my tkt in Nice. Otherwise I'll get in Genoa. When will you be there?
