Trenitalia password problems

Hello !

I've tried on 3 separate occasions, over the past 2 weeks, to sign up on their site and get a password so I can order train tickets in advance....no return email with the all important password has shown up. I've heard nothing.....the clock's ticking, the trip's getting closer, and while I know I can make reservations IN Italy, I really wanted to try the ticketless option where possible; and get rezzies in advance without standing in lines, etc.

Just curious if anyone else has had problems recently, or am I the only "lucky" one?

Regards,

Melodie

Oh no, you're definitely not the only one. I was very frustrated by that error message. Nowhere does it tell you that you can't reserve until 60 days before your trip. I thought I was doing something wrong.

The message came from "webmaster" and seemed so different that my server's program tagged it as "junk email". If I hadn't looked at the subject line, I'd have sent it to trash.

It's just a series of letters.

I got the best explanation from this site:

Hope this helps. Just persevere. Good luck.

Hi wlz,

It is possible that your spam filter has deleted the email.

Try this: open an account at www.yahoo.com or www.hotmail.com.

Apply for another password.

If you get an email, it will be in your "bulk mail" folder.

Hi Everritp and Ira!

Thanks for responding.......I did know that you can't reserve more than 60 days out; that's not the problem, as I leave in a month.

Ira, I don't have a spam filter, so that's not it either........I fear Trenitalia hates me. :)

Melodie,
I got a password without any trouble. After reading your email, I took a look at your email address and noticed that you are using AOL. Anytime someone has a problem doing something online, it usually has something to do with AOL. I would try registering with another email address. You can open a free hotmail or Yahoo account and give it a try.

Hi melodie,

>..I don't have a spam filter...<

AOL filters your mail for you.

Open a yahoo or hotmail account. It's free.

Hi Ira & Desert Sue...you are GENIUSES!

Apparently AOL was EXACTLY the problem and when switching over to a Yahoo account we were able to get the long awaited password! Grazie...Mille Grazie

Mind you, we are still having problems with the site, but that's Trenitalia! We have one train reservation confirmed, and 2 more to do, not a problem with the several weeks remaining before we go!

Again, thank you both for your help!

Melodie

I got my password right away from trenitalia, but I seem to be having trouble finding a timetable. Now I wonder if the problem is that I am putting in a date in March 2006. Since it let me put it in, I thought there was no problem. The error message said to look at the "timetable", but I have never been able to find anything that looks like a timetable. Do I need to just hold on to my password until January and try again then?

JC,

yes, you're trying to reserve too far in advance, that's the problem...the fact that the site let you put the date in is just it's evil little way! :)

Try it again in January; 60 days from your departure date.

Melodie

Thanks Melodie,
I was beginning to think I was going crazy or had lost every technical ability that I have gained recently. have fun on your trip - I'll look forward to the trip report.
