Trenitalia online price question
When I check itineraries on Trenitalia, the price listed for a ES train includes any reservation fees, correct? But when you check the price of an IT train, it does not include the 4 Euro reservation fee, since its optional?
I am trying to decide if the railpass makes sense, and want to make sure I am reading the Trenitalia online prices correctly. Thanks so much, this has been a great site for help in planning my upcoming trip to Italy |
ES prices include your seat but IC doesn't. If you are only traveling in Italy you probably don't need a pass.

KY is correct.

I have a follow-up question to this thread. When I check train schedules and prices on Trenitalia's site, there are shown when you select a specific train. One is in the lower left and the other in the lower right. Is this price difference for 1st vs. 2nd class, or is it for some kind of discount pass holders (locals), or something else? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated as I try to determine my train routes for an upcoming trip.
Oh, here' a link to an exampe... http://62.110.170.234/webapp/trenita...ag=1&det=1 Thanks!! |
The price on the left hand side is 1a classe (1st class) on the right hand side is 2a classe(2nd class). On ES trains 2nd class is fine. There are some passes available to Italians but I assume you are clicking on the number 1 or 2 etc on the right hand side when the schedule pops up to get the prices.
