Trenitalia on strike!?

Ok what do I do? I just found out that Trenitalia is on strike for 24 hours beginning at 9PM on the 17th of May. We have a ticket from Rome to Venice leaving at 8:50AM on the 18th. I realise that sometimes just because a transportation company goes on strike (Alitalia, etc) doesn't necesssarily mean you are grounded. I can't seem to find anything out. I checked the website but its all in Italian & I can't read it or find the English button. Does anyone know specifically how this strike is affecting people? Also- how do I go about getting my money back?

Some long-distance and local routes have very limited service guaranteed during strikes. Your train on May 18 from Roma Termini to Venezia S.L., however, is not guaranteed. The Eurostar (#9462) departing Termini at 6:55 a.m., arriving Venezia S. L. at 11:28 a.m., IS guaranteed.

FYI, this is how you navigate the Trenitalia website to find the list of guaranteed service:

www.trenitalia.com

Look for "Trenitalia" along left margin. Click on "Vai al Sito."

Click on "English" in upper right corner.

Click on "News" in the menu list running left to right.

Click on "News on Strikes" in the list at the left margin.

Click on links to info on guaranteed long-distance service and local service by region.

Good luck.

I don't know how refunds/rebookings are handled during a strike. For general refund info, follow the navigation I described above to the first page in English. Along the very top edge is another horizontal menu list. Click on "FAQ," click on "Refunds."

Thanks for all of your help.

This is so frustrating! I am going to have to wait until tomorrow morning I guess. I know that I want to change to that earlier train but cant seem to be able to do it on the website. I will have to call in the morning...though the number for Trenitalia isn't working for me.
