Trenitalia Intercity Two for One Sale

Through June 30, on any Intercity train in Italy, any day of the week, two people travel for the price of one, by purchasing a first class ticket. Seats can be reserved, on a space available basis, up to midnight of the day prior to the desired departure date. This represents a 50% savings.

This sale EXCLUDES travel on Eurostar Italia (ES)trains, Eurocity (international) trains (even segments wholly within Italy), as well as any local (diretto, regionale, interregionale) trains.

Thanks for the info. Where can I buy tickets to get the savings? Just at the station? Is it offered to non-citizens?

The easiest thing to do is to purchase the tickets at the train station, or at a travel agency in Italy, in either case specifically requesting the discounted fare. Bear in mind that travel must occur on or before June 30, and the promotion is valid only on Intercity trains, only in first class.

I have a 5 day 2 month Eurail pass, but if I didn't want to use one of my days, and just want to go from say, Rome to Pompeii, can I use this fare? It's for me and my 13-year-old son. Will that be worth the price?

The reserved first class fare from Rome to Naples is Euro 25.21, so this is the value to you. From Naples to Pompei, you must take the Circumvesuviana commuter rail, which is not part of the Trenitalia system and therefore requires a separate ticket and fare (under 2 Euros)
