Trenitalia

This website seems so confusing. Has anyone used it to buy tickets? Or am I just missing something. We want to buy tickets from Venice to Rome and now I have to register. Maybe I'm making things difficult when they don't have to be. I would like to have the tickets before we leave the US.

Don't bother trying to buy tickets online. They don't accept US credit cards (I assume you are from the US) Just get them from the machines at the train station, or stop in at any travel agency on the street in Venice and they can sell them to you.

When did Trenitalia stop accepting US credit cards online? I know I used my CC in 2007 when I bought my tickets online (while in Italy) to go from Levanto to Naples.

Within the last year or year and a half U.S. credit card have not been viable on the Trenitalia site.
