trekking pole transport
I would like to get trekking poles for my walking tour in Tuscany in May, but all the poles I've looked at only scrunch down to 24+ inches. I only use a 22 inch suitcase so 22.5 is all it will hold diagonally. Some have suggested I get tubes to put them in and check them in. Wondering if anyone else has successfully transported trekking poles (outside of their regular suitcase) or any other ideas?

My husband has carried them as hand baggage to Greece and back

Check the National Geographic web site store. They have a great collapsible trekking pole that fits in my carryon. It also doubles as a monopod for a camera!

I have seen a mini pole that goes down to 20"
We have Leki poles and if I unscrew the top section all of the way...it will separate from the rest of the pole. This allows it to easily fit into my carry-on in two pieces. Check this site for dimensions on poles. http://www.trekpoles.com/cgi-local/s...=1&order=2 |
I bought one from Sierratradingpost that fits my 22" bag. Here's a link to a similar one:
