Trees at Versailles
I am looking to purchase a tree at Versailles for my fiancee as a wedding gift (we will be visiting there during our honeymoon.) However, their website link to "purchase" the tree has been down for several months. Is there the ability to pay for the tree when we are at Versailles?
Thank you. |
The better question is will the US Dept. of Agriculture (assuming you are returning to the US..if not, sorry...) allow it to be shipped/brought into the country?

At Versailles, you can purchase a tree in honor of someone. The funds are used to replace trees that were destroyed during a storm years ago. Versailles has been a favorite of my fiancee's for years.

I'd still followup on Bootman4U's suggestion.

Chateauversailles.fr
will get you into the site and from there you can go to the Adopt A Tree section. If the site is still down, try emailing the main address and see if they can give you the info by email or mail. Good luck! And I do think it would be easy to do when you are there. |
Bootman and Howard - you don't "ship the tree home".. it is sort of a tree adoption. Like buying a brick at the Globe theatre -- you are not buying a tree but donating the cost of one.
yeagy - I'd just phone them if the site remains down. |
Howard, you don't buy a tree to bring back for a souvenir! You 'sponsor' the planting of a new tree to replace those destroyed by terrible storm back in 1999 (around 10,000 trees lost).
We did this - the foundation sent us lovely letters, then a map showing what grid 'our' tree was in, and a certificate. Last fall, we found the grotto where our tree was planted - of course, you don't know EXACTLY which tree, but we 'chose' one and took a picture of it. Since we have enjoyed the beauty of Versailles a few times, we thought we'd enjoy participating in this effort. I read somewhere that over 60% of the funds raised were from Americans... |
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
