Travelodge feedback
Planning to use Travelodge hotels in Cardiff and Edinburgh during our trip in June. Appreciate if you could advise whether the rooms are good. The price sure is.

Hi, I haven't stayed @ travelodge in either of these cities. 'Tripadvisor'lists about 4 in each city and the comments are varied. Hopefully someone who has stayed there will reply to you. Good luck and have a nice time in June

I've stayed at Cardiff and it was as you'd expect a Travelodge to be, fit for purpose. Expect no luxuries and you shouldn't be disappointed, usually no restaurant on the premises but rooms are simple usually clean with on-suite bath and shower, tea and coffee making facilites, a space for hanging clothes, a bed and a table. To be honest you could go to a travelodge anywhere in the UK and once inside the door you wouldn't know if it was Plymouth or Glasgow. But as you say the price is good. They are used a lot in the UK by economy business and weekend travellers but don't take that as being anything seedy! Another similar chain is Premier Travel Inn - www.travelinn.co.uk

Any particular reason you want to stay at TravelLodges? They would be like staying in a Motel 6 or Super 8 in the States Nothing wrong w/ them, but for the same money or less you can stay in nicer B&Bs, guest houses or small hotels with some character.
Is this your first trip to The UK? It would be a shame to stay in a Travel Lodge - when you can stay in 200 year old B&Bs or inns instead of staying in basic motel-type places . . . . . |
jk,
Proceed with caution. While I've not stayed at either of those UK locations, Travelodges are typically soulless, utterly forgettable, and, worse, rather depressing places to stay. In fact, "cookie-cutter" is probably the best that could be said of these accommodations. Surely you can do better, while still keeping within your budget. Best of luck. |
Whilst they may not have a huge amount of character, the accommodation in the Travel Lodges round the country is usually of a consistent and reliable standard. They are usually clean, warm and comfortable and good value for money. Most are adjoining a pub or restaurant where breakfast is available at extra cost
