Travelling with kids

We finally got the chance to travel to Europe this coming April, but my husband and I couldn't find anyone to leave our small children with (2,5,8). So we decided to just bring them along with us. Crazy i know. We decided to just take a cruise (Carnival) so it wouldn't be too hard for the kids but we want to explore atleast one Italian city.We'll be spending 4 days in it before we join the cruise. It's a toss up between florence and Venice. Which is more kid friendlier with regards to restaurants, things to see and do? help!

I think Venice is better. No traffic, and very different to any place that they have been. One possible hassle, though. Venice is not very stroller friendly - a lot of bridges.

@peter_s_Aus thanks I'll consider that!

Hard choice but I would of said somewhere in Siena/Florence . . .You could get a place with a pool ..hire a car and do some adventures. I've been to Venice for day trips only and to be honest I found it VERY expensive and a little on the smelly/dirty side in comparison to Florence.

We are also doing the crazy thing and travelling with our kids and I'm not taking them into Venice.

There is a theme park near Varona that looks like fun if you want to do something different you could stay there and then also do a day trip to Venice if you were desperate to see it.

I think we are going to spend a few nights there.

GOOD LUCK!

Venice is great for kids.

Verona, in combination with Gardaland, is also quite nice.
