Travelling with baby:)

We are leaving for Europe May 27 thru June. We are staying in Nice for 5 days, then we've hired a car with a car seat for 4 days to take a leisurely drive to Parpagnion where we will drop the car and board a train to Barcelona. After a few days there, we plan to fly to Rome for 6 days then onto Ireland to visit family for the last week.
My baby boy will be 4 months old, he is quite a big boy, at 3 months he is about 17 lbs will be coming along and so my question is what is the best umbrella stroller to use for travel? Keeping in mind navigating the cobblestone streets and crowded museums etc.... Ive been looking online but there are so many choices so any help is appreciated. We will also be taking the Ergo baby carrier which I love.
Any other suggestions for "must haves" with baby would be great. For luggage we are just planning on taking our large backpacks as the luggage weight restrictions are costly if you go over.
Cheers

No umbrella stroller. Use something sturdy and light - like a Combi or (if you want to spend a ton of money) a Maclaren, Peg Perego or Bugaboo. The Combis fold up well and you can sling them on your back with a strap.

As for "we are just planning on taking our large backpacks as the luggage weight restrictions are costly if you go over" - this is odd. The large backpacks should not be near 50 lbs (23 kg) so you should be able to be below the luggage weight cap without having to tote a large pack on your back in addition to a large infant on your front.

We bought an Uppa Baby G-Lite (http://www.uppababy.com/products/product.php?id=170) for a trip to Italy with out daughter and it worked out great. It was small enough, light, easily collapsable and manueverable. The stoarge underneath wasn't huge but was convenient at times. Mind you that no matter the stroller you get there will be times when it is less than convenient, but it sure beats not going at all!

Have a great trip.

We have been using the Uppa Baby G-Luxe. Very similar to the G-Lite mentioned above but it does have a full recline feature. My son is 20 months now and we have used the full recline for both when he falls asleep as well as in-the-trenches diaper changes! Like the G-Lite, very lightweight, we did get the bag for it for gate checking so it doesn't get trashed.

We're going with our two girls (ages 18 months and 3 years) next week to Spain. We're bringing a twin Maclaren. Hoping it works well! We're also bringing a Ergo carrier that we're borrowing from a friend. I've never used one before so I hope its good for my 18 month old.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've narrowed it down to three- the Uppa Baby G Luxe, the Cybex Onyx or the Peg Perego Plinko Mini. Anybody have any thoughts on the Plinko or onyx? Also I am curious if anybody knows if they would be less expensive to purchase in Europe if they were made there? My thoughts are probably not.

jo021, what did you decide on? How was the trip? Hopefully you found travelling with kids not nearly as bad as many fear and in fact quite rewarding.
