hi aussie,

i had a look at the atlantic heights B&B in St. Ives. it's a liitle out of town [probably 10 minutes walk down to the town, 15 monutes back up] but does have the huge advantage of FREE parking - a real bonus for St. Ives, i can tell you as the parking is awful! [though perhaps not such a problem in april, except in school hols, which i think will be over by the time you would be due to arrive].

the weather here in Cornwall in April can be variable [where can't?] but it is really the best time for seeing the gardens - peak time for camellias and rhododendrons, as well as all the daffs and other bulbs.

I can tell you from my DH's recent trip to watch a rugby match near liverpool, it's about a 5-6 hour drive [nearly all motorway/dual carriageway] from liverpool to west Cornwall.

as for what to do with your spare days, if you were en route between Cornwall and Liverpool, you might think of a couple of nights in Bristol [great shopping, museums, theatres] or the Wye valley.

hope this helps,

regards, ann
