Travelling on your own - too risky...

Hi,
I'm a native russian, I travel a lot and I've been doing a travel attendant/guide/interpreter job for a while helping people to communicate and deal with difficult situations in Russia.
From my experience: don't go to another country on your own, make sure you have someone who is able to provide you a reliable support you on your way.
Many people just can not imagine what kind of dangerous situations they can get involved in, especially without knowing language, cultural differences, etc...

There are lots of things that you can foresee on your trip. You need to make sure you trip is safe and you come back home safe and sound.

If you have any questions, welcome to e-mail me for a good piece of advice.

Good luck!

Hmmm...I would agree with you if, perhaps, I was going to....say...Iraq?

But honestly! I've travelled in the US, most of Europe, India and several countries in Africa on my own without any trauma.

I strongly suspect that this is a troll. I certainly hope it is!

I don't think the post is a troll, but an offer for guide service in Russia.

You've come to the wrong place. You say, "don't go to another country on your own." What a load of garbage!! Most people on this board love independant travel and have been doing so for years. You are trying to scare people into using your service by telling us how dangerous the outside world is. I personally resent the hell out of anyone who sells their service by intimidation!! I'm sure this post will be deleted soon, as it should be.

Hi RG, I disagree with your posting. Your comments doesn't apply to every country, and everyone should use common sense when traveling anywhere. Unfortunate things can happen in your own backyard!

Flyboy, you are much nicer than I am. I would flat straight-out accuse this person of advertising on this forum.

Hmmm
Provacative title, 'russian guide' in the user's name....just a little suspect? A troll with a business?

Fear tactics all over the place, in presidential campaigning and now on this forum.. Sheesh.

Silliest thing I've ever heard. Have been to Russia 3 times solo - and never had a problem. It's not Mars!

Agree that this is advertising of the most unpleasant sort - trying to scare the unwary - as well as drum up business.

If your experience is based on what you've witnessed in Russia and the other former Soviet Republics, then I can understand your view.

However, to imply that one must NEVER leave their home country without a guide, is just naive. Or an advertisement for your Russian guide business.

I have been travelling on my own for both business and pleasure for more than 30 years. I am in total disagreemnt with the original poster! While I also enjoy travel with others, there is a wonderful sense of freedom and adventure that is a benefit of independent travel. I know for a fact that it has enhanced my life.

No, but I have had Menudo (Mexican).

I found this description
FLAKI/FLACZKI (FLAH-kee, FLAHCH-kee) - Tripe soup, on the spicy side, flavored with black and red pepper, ginger and marjoram; a topping of grated cheese makes it "po warszawsku" (Warsaw style). Condiments such as additional marjoram, paprika, Turkish pepper and Maggi seasoning are usually provided for those who enjoy a zingier taste. Known as flaczki (the diminutive form) to descendants of the old Polonia and flaki to more recent arrivals.

Sounds good.
