Travelling from Geiranger to Oslo in a day

I would like to take the bus from Geiranger to Andalsens on the 12th of August, and connect from there with the train Andalsnes-Dombas-Oslo so that I may reach Oslo on the 12th night itself. Does the bus leaving Geiranger at around mid-day connect with the train from Andalsnes to Dombas and from there to Oslo?

Which bus from Geiranger to Åndalsnes do you have in mind? I did a quick check on the public transport travel planner web site for that part of Norway, but could not find any direct route.

From what I gather, there are two buses in summer from Geiranger to Andalsnes. I plan to take the one departing at 12:25 p.m. which should reach Andalsnes at 3:15 p.m.

There is a train leaving Åndalsnes at 16:16 arriving in Dombås at 17:56. At Dombås you change to a connecting train for Oslo which is departing at 18:02 and arriving in Oslo at 22:11.

You can buy a ticket for the full train trip at the NSB web site today for NOK 299. Should your train from Åndalsnes be delayed, NSB will hold back the train for Oslo, or they will arrange alternative transport from Dombås to Oslo.

I doubt the train from Åndalsnes will wait if the bus you arrive on is delayed. Since you have a full hour between when the bus arrives and the train departs, I don't think you should worry.

Do you have a reference to where you found information about the bus?

Thanks for all the information. I found the bus departure timings at the www.fjord1.no site. Unfortunately, I did not save the link, and their server appears to be down today.

Fjord1 is a major transport operator, running ferries, fast boats and buses.
The timetable shows a bus from Geiranger at 1225, getting to Åndalsnes at 1530. The fare is Kr 241. This is a tourist service and runs daily from 22 June to 17 August.
