We must arrive go from Barcelona to St Tropez and arriveearly in the of June 11th . We are four adults.
Which is the best and cheapest way?

That's a tough (boring - & sun in your face) 7 1/2 drive. So just work backwards. See if there are very early morning flights from Barcelona to Marseille or Nice.

If you arrive early enough, there is a train departing Barcelona at 09:05. The trip takes a little over 9 hours total and you have to change trains twice. You'll have to take a taxi to Saint-Tropez once you reach the station in Saint-Raphaël (about 45 minutes). The minimum cost for 4 people will be around 600€, about the same as doing a private transfer.

The drive from Barcelona to Saint-Tropez can be done in around 6 hours, a little longer with traffic.

The question is, why are you flying into Barcelona and not Marseille (www.marseille.aeroport.fr)?

mzani & Robert

The OP stated that he had to be in St Tropez early in the day. I don't think either of your plans would accomplish that.

Also, I received a speeding ticket somewhere on one of the autoroutes between Perpignan and Nice. ViaMichelin says that the driving time from Barcelona to St Tropez is 6 hr 38 mins. With the unavoidable "deviations", pottie breaks, traffic, lunch, I would budget 7 1/2 hours. Renting a car in Spain & dropping it off in France would be quite expensive. Plus I doubt if the OP will find many car rental places open early in the morning. Also, I really don't understand if the OP is flying into Barcelona and then immediately going to St Tropez. If so - the only way he might make it there early in the day is to take a flight from the Barcelona airport to Nice or Marseille - if a flight exists.

We stayed over in Carcasonne and do not regret it!

We drop the car in Figueres, took a train to Perpignan without any problem. Carrentals at the train stations.
